Breastfeeding Can Help Women Fight Against Endometriosis

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is the abnormal growth of cells (endometrial cells) similar to those that form the inside of the uterus, but in a location outside of the uterus. (1)

According to a new it seems being a nursing mother can help contain this ailment. The longer they breastfeed, the lower their risk of getting the disease.

“For women who are interested in reducing their risk for , is one potential modifiable way that women can reduce their risk,” Dr. Leslie V. Farland of Harvard Medical School in Boston, one of the study’s authors, told Reuters in a telephone interview. “I think the research builds off of what we already know, that breastfeeding can be beneficial for both mother and child.”
